Job Title: Paralegal – Civil Litigation
Location: Fresno, CA (Hybrid Remote Work Options Available)
The Role
Manock Law relies on top-tier paralegal support to execute our litigation strategies effectively. We are seeking a Paralegal who brings sharp analytical skills, precise drafting ability, and exceptional organizational habits to our firm. You will be responsible for driving the discovery process, communicating effectively with clients and counsel, and preparing matters for hearing and trial. Key Responsibilities:
- Document Drafting: Draft, format, and proofread legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests/responses, and settlement agreements.
- Case Management: Take ownership of case files and manage firm workflows using law practice management software.
- Calendaring & Scheduling: Manage firm calendars, track critical case deadlines, and schedule client meetings, calls, and court appearances (including utilizing platforms like CourtCall).
- Court Filings & E-Filing: Prepare and electronically file legal documents with California state and federal courts, with a strong emphasis on Fresno Superior Court procedures.
- Legal Research: Conduct substantive legal research and draft case briefs or memoranda to support case strategy.
- Litigation & Trial Support: Assist attorneys with trial preparation, exhibit organization, hearing binders, and coordinating witness appearances.
- Client Communication: Serve as a reliable and professional point of contact for clients, keeping them updated on case statuses and gathering necessary information.
Qualifications:
- 1+ years of paralegal experience in a California civil litigation law firm.
- Paralegal Certificate (or recent graduation from a strong Paralegal Studies program) compliant with California Business and Professions Code § 6450.
- Familiarity with California civil litigation procedures, local rules, and calendaring deadlines.
- Knowledge of e-filing (Fresno Superior Court experience is highly preferred).
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and legal research platforms. Experience with PracticePanther is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
- Frontline Communications: Screen calls, take accurate messages, and direct inquiries. Serve as a welcoming first point of contact for our clients.
- Document Preparation & Formatting: Type, format, proofread, and finalize standard legal documents, correspondence, and court filings. Ensure all documents strictly comply with applicable court formatting rules before submission.
- Calendaring & Scheduling: Manage firm calendars, track critical case deadlines, and schedule client meetings, calls, and court appearances (including utilizing platforms like CourtCall).
- Filing & Records Management: Maintain organized physical and electronic case files. Scan, label, and file documents using consistent naming conventions to ensure files are complete and easily accessible.
- Coordination: Coordinate mediations, arbitrations, and settlement conferences, working closely with opposing counsel, court reporters, and neutral parties.
- Office Administration: Order office supplies, manage incoming/outgoing mail and deliveries, and assist with basic timekeeping and billing support.
Qualifications:
- 1+ years of experience as a legal secretary or administrative assistant in a California law firm.
- Familiarity with California civil litigation procedures and local rules.
- Experience with e-filing in California state courts (Fresno Superior Court experience preferred).
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- High attention to detail, especially regarding document formatting and proofreading.
- Experience with PracticePanther (or similar case management software) is a major plus.
